Too bad FAU has moved on. They have some ballers. Beat Arizona today.

Half our wins have come against NAIA or DIII schools -
Basically playing .500 ball against D1 competition
He has a WAYS to go - a long way
Still no offensive continuity and still no ability to beat the press or consistent inbound plays
Severe coaching deficit against most teams with equal or slightly less talent and that bears out in the inability to close out games

As I mentioned to someone the other day, there is no doubt in my mind that Hester can recruit. He's probably one of the best recruiters we have had in a long time. The jury on his coaching ability is still out. It is almost like he is learning on the job how to coach.
Everyone here loves to talk about the one that got away with Dusty May, but in his first two years at FAU, he went 17-15 and 8-10 in conference play finishing 9th both seasons. Many on this board would have been clamoring for him to get canned after two years like that. May only blew up after the shortened Covid season. I do think Hester understands his deficiencies. He went out and got Newman because we had to have a good PG. This at least tells me he knows what he doesn't know.
This Tech team is one really good PG away from being really good. And by "really good" I mean winning 25+ games, hopefully a conference championship and dancing for the first time in 32 years. Even with Hester's shortcomings a good PG can elevate a team's play. Alas, we don't have that "really good" PG. So, .500+ is the best we can hope for this year.
Good PGs are few and far between. I guess that Hester will be looking as soon as the portal opens for one. Losing Iso this year (and any other transfers) will necessitate being able to recruit every year for a single season. The other thing that works in our favor during this time is right now in the crazy world of college athletics teams are one-year-only teams. Single servings. So Hester will be recruiting every single year for that single season.
If we can beat GCU, we have a chance at maybe 2nd in the league, and I'll take NIT over nothing everyday. It means, at least we are improving.

Did I miss the news about Tech dropping down to NAIA?
Dallas Christian? isn't that the former Dallas Baptist, of good in baseball fame?
No. DBU does have Div. II sports (the rest of them other than baseball), but this was not them. Looks like they actually played each other this season.
You may be thinking of Houston Baptist which changed to Houston Christian recently (right around the time their whole football offense transferred to WKU).
