Let's look towards 2010-2011 roster as its set today, at least:

Returning players:
Olu* (PF, HS)
Brown* (PG, Juco)
Gibson (wing, HS)
Redding (wing, HS)

Bartlett (wing, walk-on, HS)
Hall (PG, walk-on, HS)
Rake (SG, walk-on, HS)
[maybe I'm forgetting some others; isn't there a transfer or two that had to sit out last year?]

Incoming recruits:
Roshell (6-10 C, Juco)
Johnson (6-7 F, HS)
Hunsaker (PG, HS; top PG in the state of Utah, now coming off Mormon mission)

Possible incoming recruits:
Souza (PF, Juco)
Wilson (6-5 wing, Juco; 3-star)
Sterns (SG, HS; 3-star)
Townsel (PG, HS; all-state MS)
Smith (6-5 wing, HS; all-state AL)

And a few other possible recruits whose names are floating out there in association with Tech, things aren't so bad, folks. Roshell is girth, defense, and rebounding, with some juco experience. Welcome to Tech! Why not hope for the best instead of hate?

If we get a few of the possible recruits, especially Souza, Sterns, and either of those other three guards, I think we'll be looking good. We won't have a lot of depth in the post, but we'll be athletic. It doesn't seem to me that Rupp is leaning too heavily on Juco, and it doesn't seem to me like he's sitting on his hands. (Don't paint it like Rupp doesn't go after players; I just wish a guy like the 3-star PF Roberson out of Arcadia would have stuck around in the area to play college ball and accepted Rupp's offer to Tech.)

I think Wilson signed with Grambling. Had to be some baggage to have ULM, Tech, and Ole Miss (where he signed out of high school) back off of him.

Also don't forget Andres Marmolejo as another walk on. Averaged 30 something points his senior year in high school.

Why do you think Hunsaker and Deuce don't make it here? We have 9 scholarships to fill so I doubt the coaches are dumping any player on board. And Deuce was said to be a great student when he signed.

To the point of not signing high school players. You have to think about the landscape of college basketball now. The power conference teams and some mid-majors are losing a lot of players every year to the NBA. Look at Kentucky, they lost 6 guys to the NBA. They are not recruiting the same type of high school players we are, but they are taking recruits from say a lower power conference team becuase instead of getting 4 players coming in they need 8 players. It is a trickle down effect that the players left coming out of high school we would recruit might have grade issues or not have the impact like a coach needs.

Coaches want guys to have impact now because as you can see from all the posts through the week. If Rupp has a down year next year, people are going to want him gone. And some people want him gone right now. And some high school players in the state need a couple years of seasoning, which most coaches don't have a couple years to develop players or they are gone.

Well, put me down as feeling a LOT better! This is a good class and it appears that we are ending up with a better class than we would have had with NJ. I am now officially looking forward to bball season!

Don't forget about Adrian Coleman, the freshman who transferred from Nebraska. Assuming he's still on campus (he's not on the roster on the website), he would be eligible to play next year. I would figure that he's a scholarship guy, but I'm told he's walking on for now.

I'll take those possible recruits. Get them signed up and I'll feel 100X betetr about next season.

And I had no idea about the transfer from Nebraska..I bet he can stroke it. 6'4 185.
